Chapter Three

Violette had no memory of the previous evening's excitement, and neither Ronfar nor Leo wanted to upset her by telling her about it. So the trio laughed and chuckled over breakfast, amused by those stories told by Ronfar and Violette both. Violette seemed to notice something bothered Leo, but neither Leo nor Ronfar allowed her the time to ask.

Once they struck out toward her home again, the concern was forgotten and Violette urged Ronfar and Leo both to tell stories of their adventures with Hiro and Lucia of the Blue Star, their meeting with Nall the white dragon, and their final moments with Ghaleon before fighting Zophar.

Then Ronfar again excused himself to scout ahead, leaving Violette and Leo to themselves and another pleasant walk hand-in-hand.

Violette sighed and gave Leo's hand a squeeze as she looked over to meet his gaze. "This has been such a wonderful little adventure, darling."

Leo's expression softened into a smile as he brought her knuckles to his lips. "Have you never had an adventure before, my lady Violette? Surely your parents must have traveled as your grandparents did."

Violette's eyes widened. "Do you think they might have? I always wondered why they weren't at home to watch me grow, but my granmamma would never answer my question. Leo, do you think they might still be traveling helping people?" Her eyes twinkled as she smiled. "Oh how romantic to be traveling the world together with the sole purpose of helping those in need." Her eyes widened again. "It's so much like what you and the others must have done in your adventures with Hiro and Lucia, don't you think?"

She clasped her hands and continued before Leo could comment. "Oh how simply wonderful!" Eyes widened and again clasping Leo's hand. "Darling, do you think they might finally come home now that you and your friends have defeated Zophar and made life peaceful? It would be lovely to be a family again."

Leo halted and faced her. "Have you never met your parents, dearest?"

Violette shook her head, eyes wide moments before she smiled. "Granmamma and granpapa never talked about my parents, but I could always feel as if they were so very close, thinking of me and watching over me. Do you think they might have asked the forest to help my grans protect me? Wouldn't that be so lovely of them to do?"

"And you have no recollection of them? At all?"

"No," she said, expression serious. Then she immediately smiled and gave a slight, wistful sigh. "Just feelings of laughter and smiles, protection and care." She sighed again. "Isn't it so delightfully tragic to have been separated from my parents for so long, and only feel them as a slight memory I barely remember."

Leo regarded Violette in thoughtful silence.

Violette giggled. "Darling, what is it?"

"Nothing, my lady. Nothing." He took her hands in his and gave them each a squeeze before drawing her forward again. "I suggest we go on a search for clues regarding your parents once we arrive at your cottage. What say you?"

Violette's eyes widened. "Oh truly?" She giggled and wrapped her arms tightly around his. "Oh how wonderfully exciting!"

And she could talk of nothing more the entire trip.
